Throughout the seasons, Deutz maintains close ties with it’s faithful grape producers, allies for generations or young viticulturalists who have recently joined this brand in its expansion. Each grower is dedicated to the policy of sustainable vineyard management and each plot is treated separated, according to its vigour and specific situation. At harvest time, about one hundred pickers, all carefully trained to select only the very best fruit. Patience and precision is practiced in the winery and each vat contains the still wine from a carefully identified vineyard plot. The Deutz style is based on perfectly controlled blends, with almost 80% coming from “Grand Cru” and “Premier Cru” village. The cellar master retains only the best quality pressings and Fabrice Rosset, Michel Davesne, Joachim Verdier and Jean-Marc Lallier-Deutz all taste together to find the inspiration for the blends of the various Deutz cuvees. Every bottle of Deutz Champagne owes its quality to the dedication and meticulous expertise of the men and women who participate in its production.
Deutz was founded in 1838 in Aÿ, one of Champagne’s most historic and renowned terroirs. William Deutz, along with Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, both wine merchants from Aix-la-Chapelle, created a traditional Champagne style that continues to harbour the unique heritage and spirit of Deutz generations later through it’s harmonious blend. Deutz and Geldermann combined their technical expertise, knowledge of markets and will to succeed in order to establish an international firm focused first on the quality of the vineyards. In addition to Aÿ Deutz has also purchased land in some of Champagne’s best villages, including the famous “Côte des Blancs”. Today, under the leadership of Fabrice Rosset, Deutz continues in its quest for excellence through their continued passion for terroir and tradition, sustainable viticulture and a fine range of carefully crafted wines.
