Broken Shed Vodka is based in Wanaka, a small lake town in the mountains of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. Founded in an old shed on Lake Wanaka where the formula was originally crafted and produced; the Shed is now used for tasting events and offices. Distillation, crafting, ingredients and bottling all in New Zealand. We make our spirit from whey, which is the excess sugar in milk production. Whey is a plentiful and natural source for distillation in New Zealand. Four times distilled, our whey spirit has a pure quality that allows our water sources to shine in crafting. We use two distinct water sources and craft blend them during production. By using water from both the South Island and North Island of New Zealand, we generate a balanced and unique water profile for crafting vodka. Broken Shed is made without any additives. We gain our smooth taste profile with the pureness of our ingredients and our blending techniques. Our naturally smooth taste is a result of our water re-balancing and blending techniques. We demineralise our water and then re-blend it with fresh spring water. Our filtering processes were refined for over a year and included testing over ten different water sources from all over New Zealand. We use continuous depth filtering and a custom designed charcoal filtration process.
