Federal Merchants’ Portfolio Continues to Expand
Leading New Zealand independent drinks distributor, Federal Merchants & Co will acquire Epicurean Wine Brokers, a long established fine wine distributor based in Auckland.
Effective from 10 November, the acquisition will see Federal Merchants bolster its already impressive portfolio of wine brands particularly around on premise, resulting in a more comprehensive service to clients and the trade.
Aidin Dennis, Managing Director at Federal Merchants & Co says the new acquisition is an exciting step in the plans to expand the business.
“We’ve built up an extensive grocery and retail network at Federal Merchants and our recent focus has been to improve our on premise offering. It’s important for us to be able to support our premium brands through a robust on-trade network and the purchase of Epicurean Wine Brokers will certainly allow us to do so.”
The acquisition cements what has been a highly successful 2014 for Federal Merchants. The company secured distribution rights for the likes of big kiwi names, craft beer pioneersYeastie Boysand early founders of the Marlborough wine region,Wairau River.
In December, Federal Merchants will have secured the exclusive distribution rights for some exciting new arrivals to the New Zealand market. These include Gosling’s Rum range and Ginger Beer from Bermuda, the award winning Le Fee absinth and Jefferson’s bourbon whiskey.
A further addition to the wine portfolio isAwatere River by Louis Vavasour, based in Marlborough’s Awatere valley the winery is recognised for its premium quality wines. The brand will join Marlborough family run winery, Wairau River in the portfolio.
